It is one of the surprises of the new government cast led by the PS. Researcher Isabel Ferreira, a native of Bragança and until now vice president of the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança, will be one of the names presented this Monday to the President of the Republic as Secretary of State, the Messenger of Bragança learned from a source linked to the process.
The researcher responsible for the Mountain Research Center (CIMO) will have the portfolio of Valorização do Interior, a State Secretariat based in Castelo Branco so far.
Isabel Ferreira will thus be the third member of the next Government from the Bragança district, joining Sobrinho Teixeira (born in Mirandela and former president of IPB), who remains as Secretary of State for Higher Education, and Berta Nunes ( former Mayor of Alfândega da Fé), who takes over the portfolio of the Portuguese Communities. It will be the Government with the greatest participation of the Northeast Transmontano.
Isabel Ferreira replaces João Catarino, who moves to the State Secretary of Forestry.
The invitation to Isabel Ferreira came this Sunday and was approved by the leader of the PS, António Costa.
At 45, Isabel Ferreira takes on a new challenge, after becoming one of the most cited Portuguese scientists worldwide. With a degree in Biochemistry from the University of Porto, she completed her Master's and PhD in Chemistry at the University of Minho. He has been teaching at IPB since 2000.The Messenger has already tried to reach the speech with Isabel Ferreira but, so far, it has not yet been possible.
